Dave was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from University of
California, Santa Barbara with a B.S. degree in Forensic Anthropology. Dave then attended
Michigan State University and completed three years of post graduate work in Forensic Osteology;
none of which has anything to do with his pastoral existence now.
With nearly 20 years of experience in the fly fishing industry, Dave began his career in Montana,
where he managed several fly shops and guided some of the world's finest trout waters. Upon
his return to Michigan, Dave worked for Dick and Nancy Pobst at Thornapple Orvis, which was
one of oldest and most successful Orvis dealers to this day. At Thornapple, Dave assisted
with Orvis Endorsed fly fishing schools and taught many private fly fishing and fly tying
lessons; which specialized in steelhead. He has been an Orvis contract fly designer almost 10 years; in fact, he has numerous
patterns featured in the 2008 Orvis catalog and website, and was honored Orvis Fly Tyer of the
year in 2005.
In addition to his tenure in the industry, Dave has personally fly fished for over 26 years
and has travelled to some of the finest waters the world over- Christmas Island, New Zealand,
Mexico, Europe, the Great Lakes and American West.
Recently, Dave fulfilled a life-long
dream and now is the proud owner of a Platinum Orvis dealer in Hickory, North Carolina.

Skip has been with Casters from day one. A retired State Farm Agent of 30 years, he now finds himself
telling fish stories and traveling to some of his favorite trout streams. He has a vast knowledge of
the Orvis line, and his strong suit is definitely customer support. You won't find a more genuine
guy, anywhere. Be sure to drop by and talk about fishing, college basketball, or pro football, but.... only say
good things about the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Carolina Panthers. Or else ; )
