Catawba Valley Fly Tying Club
Hmmm, a beer label with "Hise's Fish Food" superimposed over it...what is that all about? Well,
beer and fly-tying. Yes, that's correct. Foreign beers from around the world, sampled
while creating flies. No need to sit at home and drink beer, and/or tie flies. Come hang out at
Casters, share stories, tie flies and drink beer. Each meeting Casters will highlight specialty beers from around
the world. The next meeting is TBA and the featured region will once again be USA (microbrews).

Hazel Creek Excursion- May 23, 24, 25 2008
Each year, millions of people escape to the Smokies, distancing themselves from the drudgery of their everyday routines for a
refreshing brush with nature. Yet only few are lucky enough to really escape; leaving all traces of civilization behind, camping
under the stars, fishing for wild mountain trout, following un-beaten paths into the wildest areas of the Great Smoky
Mountain National Park. Join Casters Fly Shop and Smoky Mountain Adventures as we travel across Fontana Lake to the remote
North Shore forest for a memorable two-day guided outing on Hazel Creek. Everything is provided; the equipment, the food and the expert
knowledge of one of the Smokies’ most experienced guides, Steve Claxton. Only 2 spots remain as of 4/27/08- Call Skip.

May Promotion- Orvis and Casters Fly Shop
Bring in a pair of any old sunglasses and receive 25% off
a new pair of Tri-Spectrum or HVO sunglasses. This is your opportunity to get a deal on the finest, best performing sunglasses that
have ever been produced. The Tri-Spectrums are the Only Glass-Lens Polarized Sunglasses Made Exclusively for Fly Fishing, Period.
Tri-Spectrums glass lenses filter more light at the three bands of primary
colors, so the contrasts between objects are sharper for greater definition and visibility. This greater contrast improves your ability
to distinguish fish from other objects in the underwater environment.

Fly Tying Lessons
Join Orvis Fly Designer, Dave Hise, as he reveals (some of) the tricks of the fly tying trade!
Utilizing over 25 years of fly tying experience, Dave aims to teach the basics of fly tying, how to use
specific materials, and how to efficiently tie the major groups of flies (streamers, nymphs, wets,
dries, and egg patterns). These lessons will allow you to make informed decisions on the equipment
and materials that you will need to get started in this fine art. Classes run four weeks and each
class is 2 hours in length. Vise, tools, and materials are included throughout the entire class.
Rates for group fly tying lessons are $85.00 per person for 4 sessions.
Scheduled group fly tying classes will resume Fall 2008.
Private group and individual lessons are available year-round ($105.00 per person for 4 sessions).
Contact Casters for availability.
