Hise's Hex is a great imitation of most large burrowing mayfly nymphs; particularly those of the Ephemeridae family- Hexagenia and Green Drake, to name a few. It is extremely effective when fished under an indicator for trout, steelhead, salmon, and smallmouth. Or..... strip it just below the surface for a voracious surface strike. It works especially well on the downswing of peak high water periods, where the nymphs are pulled from their silty burrows into the main current. Designed and tied by Dave Hise.
